Omega waterproof automatic watch

I would value your insights into an inherited mans Omega bracelet watch. I have yet to establish its model name, age and value. Having seen your video I realised I needed help so earlier today I took it to a friendly jeweller who removed the back and this revealed some useful information.

The model number under the Omega symbol was 552 and its type number was 165.041. As well as 'Omega Watch Co Swiss' it had the words 'Carrure Lunette', 'Fond Acier' and 'Inoxydable'. Its individual number was in the 26 million series.

The bracelet is inscribed with the name Spiedel twice on each link. As such, it may be unrelated to Omega.

My thanks in anticipation.

First, the bracelet is not original to the watch. But this is not a big issue, as the watch would have originally come with a leather strap which you can replace.

The watch itself is from the Geneve line and from around 1968. It houses the 552 movement which is a high quality work horse.

This is a nice watch and with proper service intervals should last for many more years. I would also find a nice leather strap for it and it would make a nice daily watch.
