Hi
An Omega Seamaster Watch - that's all I know about this watch that my father gave me some years ago.

I would like to ask you help me with a watch that my father gave me some years ago. He got this watch on a business trip to Europe and doesn’t remember much about it.

A lot of thanks R.

Hi

All I can say is you are a lucky guy. That is a fantastic watch and quite desirable. The watch is a Seamaster Chronograph from the early 1970?s. The Omega reference for this watch is 176.007 and it was sold by Omega from 1972-75. It used a movement numbered 1040 that was based on movement 1340 produced by Lemania. This is considered to be a very high quality mechanism and shows the time, date and 12/24h indicator (that?s the small dial at the 9 position with the red arrow).

The chronograph function could be used as a tachymetere (the white line/black numbers running around the edge of the crystal) and measured elapsed hours (small dial at 6 position) and a minute totalizer (the orange hand shaped like an airplane).

Your watch does have some issues, like a hand that needs to be replaced and wrong metal bracelet. But these are small things that can be easily corrected. The watch has considerable value and would probably be worth 1500-2000$ (end of 2010).

Enjoy your Omega seamaster watch
