Fake or real deal: 1959 Constellation calendar Cal. 561

by James

Great website! I purchased this watch from an auction website, and it claims to be a 1959 Constellation Calendar, with a 24 jewel Cal. 561 movement. Bezel looks to be either replaced or refinishede, and dial has a bit of spotting but also may have been refinished.

Back case has observatory with stars.

Dial has words:
Omega
Automatic
Chronometer

Constellation
Calendar
and a single star.

Seller advised that the watch strap is new and not genuine. I suspect the watch is fake, but at best franken due to teh font used for 'constellation', but would appreciate your expert advice.

I think the case and the movment are genuine

and from a constellation. However, the case is way over-polished. The dial is definitely refinished. So you might have a franken watch or an example that was poorly refinished.

The 1959 Constellation Calendar is a rare watch. Yours also has the Railroad Track Dial which was a special order from Omega. A rare feature. I have a steel Omega just like this in mint condition. Be happy.
