1970's Seamaster Cosmic 2000

I have just acquired a 1970's Seamaster Cosmic 2000 which needs a bit of work. sometimes the min and hour hands stop while the seconds hand continues to run OK. I do simple work to watches if I have the correct tools and think this is probably a loose cannon pinion?? The problem I have is getting the case apart. I've read about a guy who used compressed air down the pendant tube to blow the back off but I believe with the correct press and dies the whole lot can be pressed out the front of the case. Any idea where I could get the correct dies or any other suggestions on how to split the case?

I doubt someone was able to pop off the back

with compressed air. If you did this the crystal would pop off, not the back. To get at the back you need a high quality case knife like the Bergeon 6987 Case Opener. Another setup that is good is the Horotec Snap Back Case opener.

As far as I know this watch does open with compressed air but you also need a special tool that keeps the crystal in place.
Usually it requires a specialist.
